GABA – New Supplement for Anxiety & HGH

GABA and HGH 

GABA Increases HGH -Although it is marketed as a nootropic.

It is a relatively new supplements used  to relax individuals but has entered the bodybuilding market.

What is GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid)

GABA is a neurotransmitter responsible for reducing neuron excitability in the nervous system in humans. It is the most potent depressive neurotransmitter and helps relaxation in mammals. GABA supplements are primarily used to treat psychological conditions such as anxiety, panic disorder, depression, insomnia and addiction. Prescription drugs that use GABA receptors to calm patients are benzodiazepines such as Valium (diazepam). GABA has been viewed in some scientific paper as being seen a safer alternative to these prescription drugs in treating such conditions (2). There is also evidence of a link between supplementing GABA and HGH production.

It is a relatively new supplement so there must be a cautious approach by anyone who might wish to use it. It has not been studied enough to determine confirmed side effects. .However, users have noted mild to moderate side effects when staying at a dose between 250mg-750mg three times a day:

  • Increased heart rate
  • Rapid breathing/short breath
  • Tingling and itching sensation in the neck, face and limbs
  • Drowsiness

AGAIN – this is relatively new stuff so proceed with a caution and your own risk or a doctor


GABA Increases HGH

Looking at scientific research it is apparent that GABA very likely has a significant effect on HGH levels.

One study found that GABA Increases HGH by 400% at rest for 15-60 minutes with a similar increase was found after exercise.

This study interestingly found that the peak values with exercise were 30 minutes after ingestion whilst resting was 75 minutes.

There is limited research beyond this study but GABA has become somewhat popular in the bodybuilding community.


The Verdict

This one study indicates that GABA could be incredibly effective at increasing HGH at both rest and exercise.

If it is a genuine 400% increase in HGH then it would have a place as one of the most effective natural HGH boosters and provide noticeable muscle and fat loss gains.

As it is relatively new supplement and the side effects are not well studied it is recommended that you should consult a doctor before using it.
